Alec is joined by Dr. Gerald Pollack, professor at the University of Washington and a pioneering researcher in the field of water biology. Together, they explore the mysterious “fourth phase” of water, its role as a blueprint for biological energy, and how this discovery challenges long-held scientific beliefs about cells and life itself.
Dr. Pollack shares how his studies on muscle contraction unexpectedly revealed structured water layers—called the Exclusion Zone (EZ)—that behave unlike ordinary water and play a key role in cellular energy.
An explanation of EZ water, how it forms near hydrophilic surfaces, and the energy sources that sustain it, offering a new understanding of how cells generate and use energy.
The conversation challenges traditional views on atomic structure, quantum mechanics, cellular pumps, and respiration, highlighting the importance of re-examining fundamental concepts in biology.
Dr. Pollack reflects on the work of Gilbert Ling and Harold Hillman, scientists who first proposed structured water theories and faced resistance from the mainstream academic community.
Insights into how EZ water may impact cell health and cancer, offering potential new directions for medical research and therapies.
Discussion of the challenges faced when introducing revolutionary ideas in science, and why curiosity and persistence are essential for progress.
About Dr. Gerald Pollack
Dr. Pollack is a professor at the University of Washington in Seattle and directs an active lab studying the physics, chemistry, and biology of water. He is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of WATER: A Multidisciplinary Research Journal, Executive Director of the Institute for Venture Science and founder of the Annual Conference on the Physics, Chemistry, and Biology of Water. Dr. Pollack is a recipient of the Prigogine Medal for Thermodynamics and the NIH Director’s Transformative Research Award. He is internationally recognized as an author and speaker on water science.
