Strong Roots Resources is an education, consulting and installation company that assists homeowners in converting conventional landscaping into food producing infrastructure that utilizes regenerative techniques.

We are especially interested in helping homeowners on the urban and suburban scale to create resilient food systems that includes various gardening techniques, small scale livestock, soil building practices and ecosystem development.

Kerry Brown, your designer and consultant, has 15 years of experience in transforming typical landscaped properties into food producing spaces, beginning with his own in an urban area near downtown Knoxville. He can teach and design food forests, raised bed systems, kratky hydroponics, interplanting techniques and composting/soil building methods.

Since 2020, he’s expanded his reach and is converting a property that has been fallow farmland since the mid 90s. The property to acts as a demonstration site, a teaching facility and landing pad for building community connections. Kerry consults and travels within a 4 hour radius of Knoxville, TN.

All of his teaching methods are based in observation and interaction with the natural world, with the goal being to create balanced, closed loop systems that are regenerative and not extractive.
